Bluebells make me smile!

I finished another watercolor last week and this watercolor is all about bluebells. It is not of any particular spot in the world except for maybe my minds eye. I pieced together some of the landscapes around me in Vermont with a few favorite spots in the UK. This is what I came up with and hope you enjoy.

A watercolor nature landscape with spring bluebells growing along a woodland path with ferns, trees and woodland framing the way. Follow the bluebells is an original large watercolor landscape painted with an Impressionism style of art by Laurie Rohner. I love the feeling of this watercolor. Can’t you feel yourself walking down the path following the bluebells?

Don’t you love Spring, I do.

I love spring. The trees pushing their sap up through the trunk and out into their branches. Then seeing the buds start to open and the seeds dangle from the ends. The dirt thaws and the flower bulbs break through up into the sunlight. That always amazes me how these delicate flowers can sprout with so much energy exerted just to be magnificent flowers from a bulb? The wildflowers and garden flowers start in with their dance and spring is alive and the world is singing.

Watercolor Flower with Pink Hollyhock and Bee

watercolor of flower pink hollyhock and bee

Floral Garden Flowers

Watercolor flower of pink hollyhock and bee in an original botanical garden floral nature art by Laurie Rohner is a detailed delicate hand drawn and painted watercolor.

I love the colors of the pink petals going from pale pink to almost red. The centers have a shot of yellow. The green leaves are spring green and flash in a mild contrast against the creamy ivory background.

I chose an 8 x 8 inch format but you can crop it down to fit a standard size frame and mat. The paper is high quality 140 lb watercolor paper.

Hang it in the nursery, give it as a gift or keep it for yourself.

Great price for an original watercolor.

An 8 x 8 inch artwork would be added to a 12 x 12 inch frame with mat.

Sharing some warmth during these cold days.

Woodland Winter Tree Landscape
Woodland Winter Tree Landscape

So how is everyone doing this year in 2015? In the northeast my heart does go out to you. I remember when living in NJ around 1993-94 (not sure of years) there was a similar weather pattern happening and the snow kept coming down. I not only shoveled by hand my drive but then hiked up the hill to shovel out my parents. They were both retired Dad with high blood pressure and Mom too much like me born with the attitude if it has to get done then do it. Still have the same attitude and proud of that gift she gave me. Anyway, it became a game to find where I could throw the snow since the piles were now way above my head. I also remember the camaraderie between neighbors all doing what we could to help each other. Knowing the Bostonian heart well I am sure that camaraderie is alive and well today in your town.

Better sunny days are coming.

Happy Days!

Today in North Carolina it is warmer but by tonight I will be in temperatures I saw in Vermont. Heating systems are not capable of handling such drastic temperatures. Mine has been working overtime with the cold morning temps and found out yesterday I needed oil for the back up system. Well the last time I ordered oil since switching my system to the heat pump was two years ago but now no oil in the tank for back up. Ugh! Called the oil company and the very nice gentleman said there was no way he could make it to my place until next week. Oh No! Then he said listen to me there is something you can do. Go down get a 5 gallon can and fill it with diesel fuel. You can add that to your tank and it will be fine. Bless that man because I did, added several 5 gallon cans and this morning when I turned up my heat on came the warmth.

Help each other if you can and if you cannot help a smile works wonders along with thank you.

Stay warm!

Weeds are flowers I have to paint.

Bright summer botanical garden or wildflowers beam out at you off the paper. Cheery happy and spirit lifting for a summer farmhouse cottage.

My watercolor technique is glazing a process where I layer pigments on top of each other creating depth and realism in my paintings. This painting has up to 10 layers. I love the opaqueness and luminosity I achieve so that the flowers make you want to reach out and touch them.

Nature Art Botanical Watercolor
White Tulip with Dew Drops Watercolor Painting

There is a nice subtle effect on the petals of the flower and the dew drops. The droplets seem to shimmer and look as if they will fall at any moment. The high contrast of the background and the white flower is contemporary and dramatic. There are many subtle shades of different colors in this painting. I used my glazing technique layering the pigments on top of themselves creating a luminous depth. Unfortunately a photo is not capable of expressing the dramatic effect I achieve with this method.

Original iris nature art watercolor painting, a botanical garden watercolor is a garden landscape by mature artist, Laurie Rohner.

My painting is a realistic detailed painting of blue iris against dark green leaves and stems. These iris are from the iris gardens in Northern NJ. Imagine a spring day sunny with a gentle breeze and along the back bank of the garden stands hundreds of this wild iris moving back and forth as if dancing to nature’s music. It is one thing I miss about New Jersey.
