A message to George! Thank you for being you.

Happy Birthday, Dad!
Happy Birthday, Dad!

Today is my Dad’s Birthday. His name is George and he was the smartest guy I ever knew. Here pictured with my Mom and their two Standard Poodles is one of my favorite shots of him. I was very lucky to have them as parents and blessed to have chosen so well because I believe blood or lineage has not one thing to do with parents but instead it is a soul connection.

I believe that a soul enters this life for the lessons and what that soul can teach and learn from others. The Divine Source which we all make up and are very much a part of choose the life with the people needed for us to accomplish this life’s tasks. Religion, territories, possessions, lineage, ancestral bloodlines mean nothing. What you create with this life and how you treat the world around you is the most important act we do in this life.

Woodworking cabinet Dad made.

This belief stems from my Dad, George whom passed 15 years ago, that he is always connected with me. He taught me how to be a strong women. He showed me how to build furniture and to work on cars. He believed there was no such thing as women’s work or men’s work it was all work. He never thought anyone was less than the next person because he experienced much hardship with much joy. He served as a Naval Air Instructor during WWII. He showed me the world of opera and classical music.

My Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and vascular infarction (mini strokes) but was treated for Alzheimer. These days I wonder what type of treatment he would have received and would his life ended differently? He slipped away retreating into the nothing-ness of his mind. This strong intelligent man not even able to feed himself gone and only his physical being left behind. He passed in the early morning hours one January day. Glad he was finally free. I think of my Dad sitting on that rock and can still smell his aftershave. His eyes beaming with the love he had for my Mom, his beloved Lowy which only he called her by that name. Her real name was Lois. How I miss them.

So today George, Happy Birthday. I celebrate all the memories we shared, good and bad, happy and sad, loving and hateful knowing that your life and mine were chosen to be for a short time connected by the Divine Source to explore and create shared moments. Thank you for being you and allowing me to experience your soulful being.

Everything, Everyone wants the same thing.

“Everything you take for granted is a blessing. Everything you fear is a friend in disguise. Everything you want is a part of you. Everything you hate you hate about yourself. Everything you own does not define you. Everything you feel is the only Truth there is to know.

Everything you wish for is already on its way to you. Everything you think creates your life. Everything you seek for you will find. Everything you resist will stick around. Everything you let go of stays if it’s supposed to. Everything you need is right where you are.

Every time you bless another you bless yourself. Every time you blame another you lose your power. Every time you think you can, you can. Every time you fall you must get up and try again. Every time you cry you’re one tear closer to joy. Every time you ask for forgiveness, all you have to do is forgive yourself.

Everyone you see is your reflection. Everyone you know mirrors you. Everyone wants to be happy. Everyone wants to live in joy. Everyone seeks a higher purpose. Everyone breathes the same breath. Everyone needs love to survive. Everyone has a purpose to fulfill.

Everyone’s the same as everyone else. We just get caught up in labels, names, skin color and religion. Everyone’s the same as everyone else. No one wants to feel the pain. Everyone’s the same as everyone else. Everyone is dying for love to remain.”

My painting is very much influenced by the Impressionist style. Birches are wonderful trees to paint because of their contrasting bark and the way the bark stands out against the leaves and the sky. It is a fantastic miniature painting to add to Cottage Farmhouse Decor.

Freedom is a reflection of our own magnificence.

“We attain freedom as we let go of whatever does not reflect our magnificence. A bird cannot fly high or far with a stone tied to its back. But release the impediment, and we are free to soar to unprecedented heights.”

Holding back? Let your guard down and love.

“If you are waiting for anything in order to live and love without holding back, then you suffer. Every moment is the most important moment of your life. No future time is better than now to let down your guard and love.”

David Deida, is a best-selling author and teacher.

Etsy has changed the look of the shops and I love it. This is a fabulous original watercolor available for you today. I noticed my shop had plunged in views and business let’s say sank in the shop. Now it is back and running even stronger. I should have remembered how much I love this community and stopped thinking for some reason it was against (just) me. Things can look very negative when you put your guard up and stop believing in your business and primarily you. I am thrilled with my shop again. I am adding and updating many of my nature inspired custom work with some of the items seeing lower prices. It is fabulous to feel good energy in my shop and stopped the suffering.

What are you not seeing in your life? What have you put guards up for and stopped loving? Can you see the love flowing back into your life?

When you find a feather what does it mean?

Table or Plant Marker

It is said that when you find a feather on the ground it is a sign that you are getting a message soon. If the feather is white it is a message from an angel. It is nice to think about but is it real? I was, lets say, on the fence and one that needed more proof. This past weekend I had a series of events occur that when I look at them individually mean not a thing, together something much bigger.

It started with discovering a mirror I had cut for an order long ago and for whatever the reason was never used. I had not thought about it for a long time. So why now was it important? I did not need it and had no plans for it at the present moment in time yet I stopped and I looked for it. Not finding it I put it out of my head knowing I would eventually discover it. I had decided to work on some old frames cleaning them up since it was so warm out. Playing with water sounded like fun and Tuck is always up for a romp in the water. My old frames I keep in a corner of my wood shop where they sit collecting dust. Again for no reason I needed to work today on theses frames. These frames always fell into when I had some free time I will clean them up and use them. Why over the weekend with so much to do was the right time I am not sure until I found wrapped in brown paper the mirror I had thought about a day ago. I smiled to myself and thought someone beyond my seeing helped me out in this discovery. I thanked whomever it was and went on my business.

The weather broke and it was a great time to get working outside cleaning mowing and weeding. I am very conscious of things in the yard because I dislike snakes and have had a run in with a couple since moving here. I like to give them a wide berth. As I worked in the garden I thought about the little garter snake I saw here last year and thankfully as I finished I did not see again. Cleaned up and took Tuck for a nice walk down the street. Looking everywhere enjoying the day I stood waiting for Tuck to finish up and I glanced down and there no more than 5″ away is a snake. His head up staring at me not threatening just observing. I calmly moved myself and Tuck away not knowing if the snake was poisonous or not. Once at a safe distance found it was a large garter snake. As I walked back home my mind went over what I had thought about working in the garden. How glad I had been about not seeing a snake and then I did. How I have lately thought about something with no emotional connection and it would then appear.

Then yesterday I discovered a feather in the same spot as the inquisitive friendly snake. It was from a blue bird. My mother who had passed years ago had a love for blue birds. Every time I see these birds I think of her and how much she loved watching them. Yesterday was also the birthday of my grandmother, Honey. She was my mothers’ mother. So is there a message? I do not believe in coincidences or accidents. There was something different about that snake so was it a snake or something else? I think it was a message from people or guides on the other side. There is great power in our thoughts. Be careful. Be aware. Be open to the messages around you. I can only ask myself why did I have to work on those frames then and why the snake appeared at the side of the road only to find a blue bird feather the next day. But the story does not end here. The feather led me to much more.

You will have to wait. In the meantime think about any messages you may be receiving from angels and people passed over.

Faith Strength Love is the lesson and gift.

Mother’s Day to many means running out and buying some flowers or plant or maybe a piece of jewelry and a card and giving it to a women you call Mother or Mom. My mother was always and still is Mom and you would never refer to her as Mother. Funny because that is what she called her own mother, Mother. Her grandchildren  referred to her as Honey with great affection, that is a whole different story. Mom was a women I admired tremendously and so did many others.  She was always giving of herself even when the person she was trying to help didn’t or couldn’t see why. Mom would work quietly never looking for acknowledgment or rewards for her efforts. She worked with a hospital as a pastoral aid when she had the time. Mostly she took care of my family with grace and courage and a huge amount of love. She handled many heartaches some inflicted on her and some on the many people she cared for yet she never stopped seeing and searching for love and compassion and always found ways to forgive where many would not.  Qualities I try everyday to blend into my life. She seemed able to handle life’s challenges with undeniable strength and it is her approach to life I try to support in my life.

I find my life blessed. I am adopted and this wonderful exceptional woman made  my life an exciting adventure. Placed in my life as my hero , mentor, confidant, best friend, spiritual teacher, kindred spirit and not the least of it all Mom was a remarkable gift. Mother’s Day had been a hard holiday for me yet this year I feel at ease with her passing. It has been 6 years since she passed in my arms and we had to say until later. I feel her standing next to me her energy ever-present and when I am about to give up on myself or a situation I can still hear her voice say ‘it will be alright everything will work out’. Both my parents taught me to never give up on what truly matters, the person inside. It is what connects us all to everything here and everything beyond.

I wonder what Mom would say about the way things are today. I know she would look for the good and not dwell on the seemingly impossible. I know she would say with conviction that everything is happening as it should and the best anyone can do is be true to themselves. This takes work and commitment and a promise to always take the road traveled by the few. Life takes hard work and my Mom gave me the tools and knowledge I need to live the best life I can the way I see fit. Mom always felt a little twinge when she thought about the end was closer than she wanted and she would discuss who would remember her and did she leave a mark in the world. I think she did and certainly with me.

I write this not to say my Mom was a great lady because she was but to say every one of us has someone in our lives that makes us see our true selves.  Helps cultivate and nurture you so you become an awesome spectacular person.  Or maybe you can not see anyone at the moment so you become the person someone else needs. This very special lady showed me time and again it is kindness, gratitude, compassion, love, strength, faith, belief, beauty in nature, and being receptive to the good in the world that brings anyone peace. Find the things that support these qualities and keep them close to you and the world will prosper.

I send everyone my blessings and may peace enter your world today.
