Watercolor Flower with Pink Hollyhock and Bee

watercolor of flower pink hollyhock and bee

Floral Garden Flowers

Watercolor flower of pink hollyhock and bee in an original botanical garden floral nature art by Laurie Rohner is a detailed delicate hand drawn and painted watercolor.

I love the colors of the pink petals going from pale pink to almost red. The centers have a shot of yellow. The green leaves are spring green and flash in a mild contrast against the creamy ivory background.

I chose an 8 x 8 inch format but you can crop it down to fit a standard size frame and mat. The paper is high quality 140 lb watercolor paper.

Hang it in the nursery, give it as a gift or keep it for yourself.

Great price for an original watercolor.

Need help with framing I can help!

An 8 x 8 inch artwork would be added to a 12 x 12 inch frame with mat.

Title: Pink Hollyhock

Medium: watercolor on paper

Paper size: 8 x 8

Unframed

Finding your happiness, improve your reality.

“There were two ways to be happy: improve your reality, or lower your expectations.” Jodi Picoult

“The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Finding your happiness.

We may live on this gorgeous wonderful planet but we struggle to find happiness. It is true when you see what your reality of your life is and connect to life lowering your expectations can never be part of any equation. Look for the truth in all things and you will be amazed how happy and freeing you will become. The truth is you are part of an amazing Universal plan that you alone designed. Recognize what it is you alone excel at, the thing you do with absolute ease, your talent, and stick with it for this will bring you satisfaction and ultimately happiness.

Discovering.

Today I discovered a truth many do not like to see. Being lied and manipulated by incorrect information is something we all dislike. This feeling is not one I will hold onto but want to share with those who keep believing they can make their etsy shops work. Thinking if only I do this or join this e-course for answers or you need to change pictures headings or descriptions to succeed. The simple truth is etsy caters to those who bring etsy the money in sales and they do not care if it is handmade or not. So stop lowering your expectations and selling your work for less than it is worth and focus on how to produce the absolute best product you can for people who want it.

I recently experimented with etsy sections (you know the categories on the side) on the main page. I paint watercolors and I have sold several recently so I wanted to see what would happen. I clicked the art link then the watercolor link and the first second and third pages never change. Same people same art. So I thought maybe this work is recent and just added to the massive collection of prints being sold under the umbrella of handmade original art. What I discovered is no. Now if I do my individual search I come up with my work and some other gorgeous original work by other artists I also never saw on the etsy main page for watercolor under art.

I want to share this new discovery.

There are some awesome artist on etsy but they are being weighed down by the print market and the resellers on this infamous site of do what we say unless we say it is OK to cheat. People who have sold with etsy for a long time are jumping ship and establishing other means to show their work. Somewhere this site lost its vision and why it was started in the beginning and because they did many more are feeling the effects with less views and dismal sales. It is a ripple effect that is not going to stop and eventually the wonderful handmade site for handmade creative work will be no more. That makes me sad.

I am an artist and I do beautiful custom work in many different mediums. I was born with this talent and I am not going to lower my expectation of what my work can bring me because of one over rated store site. I am not sour (though it may sound like it) about this site but reality finally set in. I can do better. I see the truth about this site. How much it can do for me? Not very much.

Establish yourself and create your own web presence.

I am in control of my happiness by working on my talents and I control how my talents are shown to others. I am competing only against me to improve and become a better person and better artist. This is why I am investing my time in developing my web site. Promote only my work and gain more time to enjoy life.

A passion finally comes alive.

A collection of cans of paint and other relate...
Image via Wikipedia

Last night I pulled out some of my old books on decorative painting and perused through them. I love to paint and create different finishes. My favorite artist is from England, Annie Sloane. She really gets into the basics and shows many techniques which I have employed on some of the earlier furniture restorations in my career. As I flipped through the pages I noticed how alive I was feeling my heart racing with enthusiasm and I thought about what I had in the studio. What kind of concoctions could I mix together for a finish that would enhance one piece or the other? What could I build or design to merge what I love? And then I thought is this my passion? Is this what floats my boat or gets my mojo going? Yup!

I have decided to fully be a decorative painter. It was a choice I made decades ago even when I ran my flower shop I was a decorative painter. Somehow I lost touch with the wish I had for being a creative artist. I will paint my paintings when the mood allows.  It is the study of wall fresco and plasters and woods being cut and paints being applied and creating something from a stick of wood that I find exciting. It is a passion, my passion. I have put my ego to the side and discovered an exciting wonderful truth.

How many of us have these ‘parent tapes’ endlessly playing in our heads or well-meaning people giving advise as they see it? These thoughts and words get caught up in our minds and if you allow them to take hold you start to live so. I know I have struggled with purpose and passion and why am I here for way too long. I am not a person who can just routinely go through life. You all know the type gets up goes to a job they hate comes home and well just exists. I need to know why are things the way they are. I need to keep pushing myself to be better than I was a moment ago. I need to ask questions and I need to figure out my answers. I do not think it matters how old or young you are to ask the questions. I think  to say because I am… (fill in the rest) and never bother asking is worst.

Most people would not want my life. Guess what it is not theirs it is mine, all mine, and it is wonderful. Enjoy life, live it with passion every moment you can and keep asking your questions and discovering your truths. It is worth it, I promise.
