Life is an illusion, well maybe.

This just in life is an illusion. Everything you see is a lie. Nothing is as it seems. We are energy and thought, change the energy and thought and you change your reality.

Are you able to wrap your mind around this concept? I have a problem thinking that my business and my prosperity can change by thinking it so. Bills need to be paid. Food needs to be bought and supplies need to be purchased so the process can start all over again. Right? Not so fast. Think about it maybe that is the illusion we all deal with today. If you stop running after the concept of making money to pay for your needs are you not than creating the need to begin with? Making your life always chasing that something the next bit of money. The something is not necessarily the money you never catch. It is the something behind the money that is an illusion.

Today I looked at my etsy stats and was taken back because they were the lowest I have ever had so why? I am not concerned because my primary site at Laurie Rohner Studio is churning away. My energy there is positive and focused on my site because it is something I created and feel good about. Just as I feel when I create any work I am doing. My etsy shop is not my creation (though my original work is there) and it is controlled by others. Etsy decides who sees it and how they search for it even how they percieve my work is controlled by etsy. Etsy is a marketplace that has changed and many who connected with etsy in the beginning have seen this amazing marketplace become an illusion. The illusion etsy is helping handmade creative entrepreneurs succeed. The real fact is etsy is not, hence the illusion.

Remember everyone, this is a marketplace. Etsy showcases the merchandise being mass-produced all over the world and not handmade by artists. Assembled by some but far from handmade or original. Again this is an illusion, life as an etsy shop owner thinking if you build it you will succeed. You loose your common sense button and become a drone relisting and renewing hoping that someone will find you. You get sucked in to the armful of sites and people telling you how to succeed when they haven’t. You post and create ads for your etsy shop only to find the people not buying or are they? Another illusion is people do not check out the other shops and stay only in your shop. Etsy has done not one thing to help you promote your shop but you have done an amazing job at promoting their marketplace for them and it was free. If you are in this business because you love working for yourself and love creating fabulous handmade creative product than why are you wasting that gorgeous energy promoting the illusion? Stop think and change your thoughts and energy. I have lived in an etsy illusion. Today I see and today I changed the way I live working as a creative artist.

I will keep my shop at etsy but only as a back up. My primary focus is my Studio and my web sites. I control my reality and my prosperity. I used etsy as an example but you can apply this concept to any part of your life. Whatever you focus your energy and thoughts on is your reality. It is the energy that makes it real. When you work with passion, speak with passion or create with passion you are living your life illusion free. Well maybe that is an illusion too, but think of the fun, joy and sense of wonderful purpose you are feeling.

Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold.

“Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult.”“What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us.”

Julia Cameron, American teacher, author, artist, poet, playwright, novelist, filmmaker, composer, and journalist. Author of The Artist‘s Way.

I find this quote to be somewhat of a contradiction yet it is probably one of the most honest quotes an artist or anyone can say. Why does the dream of what we want for our lives be the most strenuous and most difficult journey? Because every dream has baggage and it is the baggage we need to let go of to find our dream. That is the challenge and the difficulty we have to overcome. Staying focused on the dream and vision is the goal and releasing the baggage lightens the load. It is then when the doors and windows of your fabulous life fly open. The energy and love of a grateful and abundant Universe says thank you.

The trick or better said the amazing fun thing is focusing moving forward resting when needed and being very clear in your heart what it is you intend. No need to tell everyone you see just keep it between you and your heart. The important energies in this universe will hear you.

Today let me share with you a painting I did of the water trickling down the moss-covered rocks in the serene woodland glade where I happened upon one day. Camera ready photo shot and the energy of this place absorbed. Later this is what I painted, an oil on canvas painting titled ‘Water Oasis’.

Imagine you are standing watching the bubbles  form as the water gurgles down the rocks into the gazing pool. Very  serene and peaceful painting and excellent for baths or meditation  rooms.

The painting is signed and dated on the reverse and arrives Ready to hang!

The  painting measures 18 x 18 inches on museum wrapped canvas (1.25″ deep)  with staples hidden on the back with wood. These paintings have  beautiful color and a great finish from high quality oil paints.

Age has nothing to do with living.

“If God had wanted me otherwise, He would have created me otherwise.”

  Johann von Goethe

Let me start with this one idea, age has nothing to do with living. Age does not automatically make you wise. Age is not a curse. Age does not make anyone irrelevant or no longer an asset to society.  Age is an illusion by the ego. Age has no power so why do we live everyday fighting age?

What I am offering instead is life with possibilities and dreams that can happen. When you step outside of time you step into only one moment, one absolute moment, and while you have that one gorgeous moment fill it with the possibilities you imagine for your life.

I discovered my possibilities. Visit Laurie Rohner Studio.

Start small with each morning before you get the day started with the must do list say to your self, today I fill my life with possibilities and my dreams matter.

Dreams are thoughts and thoughts are energy. Energy stems from Spirit which is a part of the Divine Consciousness. If you  work in partnership your life is a divine life because just that you are here makes life purposeful. The need to know why I am here disappears because you are here for a purpose. You are enough.

So why then did I start with this quote and the idea about age because the more I age the more I see people my age being absolutely insane. What happen to life lessons showing us through history change is not always a good thing? What happen with using the wisdom we have gained to protect and nurture others with compassion and understanding? What happened to allowing another to live a life designed by a higher power and being grateful for the chance to live it?

Instead people are becoming short-sighted and small-minded, hateful and resentful, needy cannot even begin to describe the society we live in now. I do not like the term being coined The Entitled Generation because they are not that at all. The children of today are the children of possibilities. Through great sorrow and challenges (which we have put on them, all ages) greatness rises.

I believe this is the dawning of a new enlightened age. Why because it has bubbled and cooked for some time. As any good cook knows the best stew or chili is only better if left to simmer allowing the flavors to enrich the food.  But you must know when to stop. An artist gets this because if you overwork a painting the paints on the paper become muddy and deluded. It is time to stop the madness and start living life with one purpose, the divine purpose, which is to love. Love another and all things and do no harm. Understand and step aside to allow people to choose their dreams and their path. Allow life to unfold because something Divine is already there guiding us. Live in the moment your glorious moment and follow the dream, your dream. It was placed inside you for a reason. By the way age has no limit on a dreams. Do not allow another to say how what or why you choose this path. Make a choice and live your life.

Do not make success or failure the criteria by which you live

“Don’t listen to those who say ‘you’re taking too big a chance.’ Michelangelo would have painted the Sistine floor, and it would surely be rubbed out by today. Most important, don’t listen when the little voice of fear inside you rears its ugly head and says ‘they’re all smarter than you out there. They’re more talented, they’re taller, blonder, prettier, luckier, and they have connections.” I firmly believe that if you follow a path that interests you, not to the exclusion of love, sensitivity, and cooperation with others, but with the strength of conviction that you can move others by your own efforts—and do not make success or failure the criteria by which you live—the chances are you’ll be a person worthy of your own respects.”

Neil Simon

Nature Art woodland landscape rendering of autumn leaves is a watercolor original paintings on paper by Laurie Rohner.

A watercolor painting of bright maple leaves in orange and reds takes me to a memory of an autumn day in Vermont. I was blessed with a beautiful view and could sit in a comfy chair one day and take in the vibrant energy of nature. Enjoying it with the best person I knew was even better. Nature seemed to have a lot to say that day. Not to stop and listen would have been an offensive move on my part.  I was given so much that day that now years later I still feel the energy of that miraculous day.

Optimism is a good thing.

Picture of a Dogwood tree flower

I just took a quiz on Oprah.com weekly newsletter ‘how optimistic are you?’ and not to my surprise I am a super-optimist. I have always believed you can find some thing good about any situation. For instance this morning it was snowing and cold most would have felt the energy drain right out of them since no one wants snow the last week of March. I found myself thinking how pretty the cherry blossom and budding dogwoods looked encased in snow. How happy I was that my house was warm and toasty and I had a full day of things to do in my house. I find it is so much more fun seeing a bright future than a bleak one. Now according to the quiz super-optimists sometimes set their expectations too high and when things turn out less than, they are disappointed. Maybe. For me I simply think, interesting, this will work also and then adapt. Thoughts are energy. You chose which ones you are going to entertain.
